A spiritual awakening happens when the person realizes that they want to be more connected to the spiritual world and the universe. They can manifest this in themselves, and they will start to see things change.
Why Go Through an Awakening?
There are different people that go through their awakening for different reasons. This can be because you are dealing with trauma such as a relationship problem or someone dying that you loved. When you are sad and crying out, your ego loses itself and you begin your journey.
Happens Out of Nowhere
Some people will go through their awakening for no real reasons. They don’t have anything happen to them that is traumatic, and it just starts to come on to them. This is a great way to go through your awakening.
Awakening Stages
The awakening can go on many stages and sometimes you will be in one stage for a long time before you move to the next or sometimes it will even go back to the previous stage. Here are what some believe the stages are:
- Waking up: You see that you need something different.
- Bliss: You feel good about everything.
- Darkness: You know that there is a need for healing.
- Empty: You feel that you are alone.
- Grounded: You connect to the universe and feel the energy.
- Final: This is the last stage when you know your purpose.
Stages of the Awakening
Here are the stages of the awakening:
Waking Up
You realize that you are sleeping, and you need to do something different. Coincidences start happening and you feel connected to the universe out of nowhere. You wake up from sleeping spiritually and you know something new is happening.
Bliss
This is when you feel good about what is happening, and you start to release everything. You make a connection to things around you, and you start to get excited. This is a great stage to be in, but it doesn’t last.
Darkness
In this stage you realize that you were feeling good but now you don’t. You are growing and giving up on things that are keeping you held back. You are forgiving those that have hurt you and this is a scary time for you to be in.
Some struggle in this stage because they have to deal with things, they never delt with before. This is necessary if you want to grow and become a better you. You might even have to deal with things from a past life which makes it even harder.
Take time to talk to someone and know that it will pass, and you will move on to the next stage and become a better person.
Empty
You might feel alone in this stage and feel that you are never finding anyone that loves you. You feel abandoned by those that you love, and you no longer feel connected. You just feel empathy. You will know that the spiritual world is trying to connect but you don’t want to go back to darkness, so you just move on.
Take time to rest during this stage and see that you are going to be okay.
Grounded
You leave the empty stage, and you begin to feel a connection with the universe. You need to let your energy flow and be grounded, or you will not have an easy time going to the next stage. You will see that you are growing and that your stages are getting through.
You are beginning to become a spiritual adult and you will learn lessons and understand why they were there for you to learn. You can protect yourself from negativity and as you manifest things in your life you will get them.
Feelings of oneness will come to you, and you will be connected to the universe and feel good. You will be in control and make good choices.
Final
This is the final stage before death. You will know your purpose and you will be confident in who you are. You will see that you can be a spiritual person and you will be safe. No matter where you were born, you will know that you are going to reach your destiny.
You won’t worry about material things, and you will see that other things are more important in your life.
This can take years to reach this stage, but you will get there. You will have to deal with different things in the other stages but once you do, you can move on.
Journaling Your Journey
Take time to journal through all of the stages so that you can clear your mind and your heart and know what is going on. You can write this in any kind of book that you keep up with.
You will be surprised as you read through this later what you have accomplished and went through. This will give you peace and hope that you are living your best life.
Final Thoughts
Some believe that there are six stages of a spiritual awakening while others believe that these stages are different. You will become a different person and you will grow and better yourself. Even though you will feel weird at times, you will become better.
It will be hard, but you can make it through it. You need to surrender to the awakening and let it take you where it must so that you can understand where you are coming from and going.
Surrender yourself and understand that even though it will be hard, you can do it. Let go of anything holding you back and anything you are fearful of. Let the things inside of you change and get better.
Find other people that are going through this so that you don’t have to be alone. They will help you through your journey.
Sarcasm aside from others here, I’ve personally gone through many phases similar to what’s described in this article. The emptiness and grounding stages are real challenges but can lead to powerful transformation if approached with mindfulness and patience.
I find it interesting that these stages resemble common emotional cycles humans go through in response to trauma or growth periods, but framed in a spiritual context. It feels like psychology dressed up as metaphysics. I think both approaches have merit, though.
This article offers a fascinating look into the stages of spiritual awakening. I appreciate how it breaks down the process so clearly. The notion that one could be ‘waking up’ without even realizing it is quite profound. It makes you wonder how many people are walking around on the edge of their own awakening without knowing.
“The final stage before death”—really? That’s quite an assumption! Why does every path need an ultimate destination? Can’t we just embrace the journey for what it is instead of always seeking some ‘final stage’?
While I appreciate the optimism in this article, there’s something very reductive about labeling complex emotional experiences into neat stages. Human growth is non-linear; we don’t just ‘progress’ through predefined steps like upgrading software.
Honestly, I’m pretty sure my cat went through a spiritual awakening based on these descriptions—she’s been sleeping all day and occasionally has blissful moments when eating treats. In her case, I’d say she’s already at the Final Stage!
Oh great, another article about ‘spiritual awakenings.’ This all sounds like a bunch of pseudoscientific babble to me. If feeling empty and alone is supposed to be part of some cosmic journey, I’d rather stay asleep.
