Sigils are not just squiggles and dashes that you put on paper to do spells, but it is a design of symbols and images that you can use to turn your intentions into phrases. The symbols are not to end sigil magic, but it is just a less used thing. There are two kinds of lesser-known magic such as verbal and movement sigils.
More than a Squiggle
Sigils can be something that you can use with your voice or verbally in order to make a spell work. You can use a movement to make this happen as well and even though it can be confusing because people don’t often understand that you can speak symbols, this is a kind of technology that is used in magic today.
A sigil is a type of magic that is coded, and it is a basic phrase that can be powerful with your intentions. It can be broken down to a smaller thing and then put back together in a new form to mean something that works with your subconscious mind. When you use sigil codes, you are activating magic of your subconscious mind and it has a more powerful effect than just using a squiggle or a word.
Witches are often warned not to use sigils that other people created because the meaning can go into the subconscious mind and if it is not something that is known to you then your subconscious will not know it either. That means when you activate it, your mind will make the sigil magic work and if you don’t know what kind of magic is being made then it can cause you to lose power that you have. Of course, there are good things that can come from sigil magical practices, but you have to know what the coded process is and how it works.
A sigil can be a code form of a way to cast spells and that means that the phrase or the intention that you make can be a sigil. This means that when you code the intention into using a spell then you are using sigil magic. If you want to, you can figure out how to translate this magic into something such as playing an instrument and using the notes or writing down the color forms. You can code the magical intention into different kinds of movements with your body or your hands that you would do when you cast a spell. Are there benefits to this? Yes, because you are being creative in how you create your magic, and this can work for your self and your inner being.
How to Make Verbal Sigils
Any kind of sigil can begin with a phrase that you state. This is the intention of the spell that you want to do. This can be something that is positive, and it can be an affirmation, but it can never be something negative. You need to use it to say something like, “I will quit drinking.” And you can use it effectively by saying, “I use healthy coping skills when I am stressed out.”
You can also use your phrases to get what you want such as, “I need a new car,” or “I need a new home.” The more that you connect this phrase with your emotions, the faster the spell will work and the stronger it will be. Use descriptive terms when you are using sigil phrases. You will start all of your sigil magic this way.
Verbal sigils are going to be used to make a powerful phrase. Some people will use anagrams, and this can make your phrase more powerful. If you want to make new friends you can say something like, “Making friends is easy for me.”
You can take the phrase and change the letters to make newer words and you can keep the same number of words in each phrase, so it is easier to remember. Do this and use repeating letters when you can. Or you can even remove letters to make things easier to remember.
You can play around with the different letters in your phrase till you create something that is a sigil. Then you can say the phrase over and over and make sure that you are saying it so that the sound resonates inside of you.
There are different ways that you can do verbal sigils and you can write them down or you can say them out loud. Most people say them in their minds like chants and they meditate to them.
Some people will activate their sigil when they go into a trance, and they say the chant over and over again which allows them to go deeper into their meditative state.
Verbal sigils can be repeated, and you can active them as many times as you want in a day. You can even make pre-spells that you can use, and you can focus your intentions to do the spells in your family or your friends. You can use sigils in a silent way, or you can say them out loud, however you want to do.
Movement Sigils
Movement sigils start the same way as verbal ones do. It can start with a phrase that is the intention of what you want. You can do movements such as a small gesture to something elaborate and a dancing motion. You can use sign language as you do your sigil creation if you want to. If you do sign language, then doing sigils will be very easy for you and it is a way that you can produce magic and cast spells with your hand motions.
Once you cast a spell you start in a clockwise manner and you can face the north, south, east, and west. You should go to each point and use the earth, water, air, and fire symbols and ask for protection against any negativity.
You can welcome the north, south, east, and west and welcome the different elements to protect you as you do your circle castings. Use your sign language as you make your movements and do small and fast movements.
You will want to make sure that each of your movements are one word such as welcome will be well and come, split into smaller movements.
You want each of your movements to go for a different direction and you can use the elements as different movements as well.
You will see a sign for the earth can mean world and you will move in a way that allows you to communicate while you are casting your spells with each of your movements.
You want to make sure that you are using movements for protection and then put it into a big sigil presentation that you can use each movement to get what you want. Focus on the circle that you are making and then perform your sigil movement. This should take anywhere from 5 seconds to minutes. You do not have to have any tools and you just use your movements like you would at dance or at yoga. You can be very creative in how you do your sigil movement, and you can be free of any kind of form or focus.
Once you create a way for your yoga to flow and your movements, you can create something new each day. Find a way to represent create with your movement and open up your body to feel good and to have long movements.
You can make movements for abundance and for health and anything that comes to your mind. Even if you face problems, you can use sigil movements to face your challenges so that you can feel like you are a fighter.
Once you create a repetitive way to do these movements, you can create a rhythm that can work with them. You can use different yoga poses along the way such as the Reverse Warrior, the Goddess pose or whatever you feel comfortable with.
If you want to know how to create sigils, you can look them up online and you can get an idea before you start creating your own.
Be Creative
Get creative and create your own movements for what you want in your life. Make your movements to work with music or play your own instruments. You can even take something and use jewelry as a way to remind you of the movements.
Dance your heart out and know that there are no limits to the way that you create or do the sigil movements and so do it in a way that works with what you want in your life. There can be new formats made and new creativity but just do what you want to make sure that you are coding your spells in a way that you can remember and in a way that makes you have peace and happiness.
‘A sigil can be a code form of a way to cast spells’—an interesting linguistic parallel to how we encode thoughts through language itself. Could these practices be seen as metaphorical rituals for accessing deeper levels of consciousness?
(Comical) So you’re telling me I can turn my awkward dancing into spellcasting? FINALLY—a use for my terrible dance moves!
*sigh* Yet another article that takes an ancient practice and tries to make it trendy with modern twists like ‘verbal’ and ‘movement’ sigils… It’s called drawing a symbol, people!
@_SigilMaster_99 While traditional sigils are important, innovation keeps magic alive! Why shouldn’t we explore new ways to connect with our intentions?
Honestly, this seems like a lot of pseudo-scientific nonsense. Magic codes? Verbal sigils? It feels like someone is trying too hard to legitimize something that’s inherently irrational.
@WitchyWays I respect your view, but there’s no empirical evidence supporting any form of ‘magic.’ Intention may have psychological effects, but let’s not confuse that with supernatural phenomena.
@Skeptic42 Magic isn’t about ‘rational’ in the way you’re thinking. It’s about intention and personal energy—things science can’t quantify yet.
(Sarcastic) Oh great, now even my yoga practice is supposed to include spell casting? What next, magical grocery shopping movements?
Fascinating! I never thought of sigils as being more than just symbols on paper. The idea that they can be verbal or movement-based really expands the concept of magic for me.
The concept of ‘coding intention’ is actually quite brilliant from a semiotic standpoint. Language as magic isn’t new—ancient cultures used chants and rituals in much the same way.
Exactly! The parallels between ancient rites and modern verbal/movement sigils are undeniable if you study anthropological texts on ritual language.
It’s intriguing how the article merges linguistics and physicality into spell work. I would love to see more research or historical context though—how do these modern interpretations relate to older magical traditions?
